Data Protection

Southwark Primary School is part of the ONE Academy Trust. The Trust has a Data Protection Policy and Privacy statement, which explain the way the Trust operates under the legal requirements of GDPR. All  documents are available to view on the Trust website here or, should you wish, a paper copy can be provided free of charge. To fulfil our legal obligations and duty of care we hold specific information. This is held securely.

Voluntary Contributions

The school asks for voluntary contributions towards trips and school events that are related to the curriculum. These contributions represent a proportion of the cost based on the principle that every parent pays. Where parents do not pay, this is financed from our “Pupil Premium” and is NOT levied by increasing the contributions of those that DO pay. However, if contributions were to fall considerably because too many parents choose not to pay, we might not be able to send pupils on as many interesting visits as we do at the moment.  Residential visits are not part of the daily curriculum and thus the school will refuse places to children whose parents do not wish to pay.  The school reserves the right to refuse to take a pupil on a trip if his/her participation may endanger the health and safety of others on the trip, or the pupil themselves. Allergy & Anaphylaxis Policy

Our school is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all pupils and adults. We recognise that life-threatening allergies (anaphylaxis) are a serious health concern. Our trust-wide Allergy and Anaphylaxis Policy outlines our strategy to minimise allergen exposure and respond quickly to medical emergencies. We have school specific risk assessments in place and local arrangements for the location of auto-injectors. We will discuss these with you in detail when notified of an allergy.

Our Guidelines

• Allergy Awareness: We are a nut-aware school.
• Food Sharing: Pupils must not share food.
• Staff Training: All staff receive annual anaphylaxis training.
• Emergency Response: We stock emergency auto-injectors.
• Classroom Activities: Lessons avoid using known allergens.

Parent Responsibilities

• Provide Information: Inform the school office about allergies
• Medical Plans: Complete and approve an Individual Health Plan with a member of school staff (where an IHP is deemed necessary)
• Medication: Provide an unexpired epinephrine auto-injectors.
• Labelling: Mark all medications with pupil names.
• Updates: Notify staff immediately of medical changes.

Pupil Responsibilities

• Self-Care: Learn to recognise personal allergy symptoms.
• No Sharing: Eat only food provided by parents.
• Hygiene: Wash hands before and after eating.
• Reporting: Tell an adult immediately if feeling unwell.

Risk Protection Arrangements
