Special Educational Needs

At Southwark Primary School, we welcome children with special educational needs and disabilities and will make sure that we don’t let any child’s individual needs get in the way of high expectations of social and academic achievement.

We aim to provide an environment in the school where all children can access a broad and balanced education and achieve their full potential. We ensure that pupils are given the appropriate learning opportunities and that a range of provisions are put in place to engage pupils in a full range of activities and to overcome barriers to their learning.

We ensure that all pupils are fully integrated in the school community and engage in school activities and that reasonable adjustments are made so that children with SEND are not at a disadvantage compared to other pupils.

We aim to provide personalised and targeted support for all our pupils with SEND. We work with the Local Offer to provide links into the wider community and support groups. We also use a range of interventions and resources to support our pupils with SEND. The Whole School Provision outlines the school offer for the four SEN Provision categories. These may change during the year or new strategies tried which are not listed. Not all interventions and resources are appropriate for all children.

If you need support, please pop in to school or give us a ring. You can speak to any member of staff who you feel comfortable with and we will always treat you with respect and understanding.
