SUPPORTING CHILDREN DEAL WITH UPSETTING ONLINE CONTENT - PARENT GUIDE

Raising children in the digital age seems to be getting tougher, with the world currently experiencing so many uncertainties. From the continuing impact of COVID-19 to the war in Ukraine, right now children across the globe can scarcely go online without being exposed to unsettling stories, images and ideas. Reassuring a concerned child can be difficult, especially when bad news feels omnipresent. This guide puts together some advice to help you in discussing upsetting events with young ones.

In the guide, you'll find tips on a number of tips such as encouraging your child to ask questions, setting limits and to emphasis hope.

ONLINE GROOMING PARENT/CARER GUIDE
With the scale of online grooming getting worse every year it is important that parents/carers are empowered with good information.

The Internet Watch Foundation have put together a brilliant guide which is split into 3 sections. The first describes what online Child Sexual Exploitation is, the second answers questions and gives practical advice, and the third informs parents what to do if they are suspicious.

I cannot recommend strongly enough that all parents / carers are doing everything they can to help protect their children online whilst at home or outside of school. I hope this helps.

I will also put this onto our online safety page on our school website.

Thanks.
