Picture News - Should all schools have libraries?

This week's Picture News for you to share at home is all about Cressida Cowell who has written a letter asking the prime minister to allocate £100m a year to help school libraries.

She had said she would like funding to be guaranteed in particular for primary school libraries in the way that it is for other areas such as sport. The letter has also been signed by former Children's Laureates including Michael Rosen, Quentin Blake and Jacqueline Wilson.

Things to talk about at home:

Do you go to a library?

What kind of books do you like to borrow? Why?

How often do you read books from a library?

When do you fit in reading at home?

If we could improve our school library, how could we do this?

Some schools have been creative with their library, for example, using an old bus! If you could create your own library, what might it look like?
